BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN

Maison Special is a Tokyo-based fashion brand launched in the Spring of 2019. Created by a team of Japanese fashion industry veterans, the brand aims to merge the high attention to detail—synonymous with Japanese craftsmen— with the tastes of contemporary urbanites.

The visual identity established the tone to express Maison Special’s brand philosophy. The spirit of the logomark was translated into architectural and retail expressions of the brand.


I was specifically tasked with developing the concept and design of the brand logo as well as its various configurations. Workshopping with my textile designer clients, we decided to modify the wordmark, so each element holds its own ‘special’ element. After establishing the logo, we adapted it into a design system for retail signage and clothing tags for the brand’s debut collection.
